1. Who we are
Mon Chiot is a portal that connects families across Québec and Ontario with trusted, responsible local dog breeders. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this site, why we collect it, and what rights you can exercise, in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25.
2. Person in charge of the protection of personal information
Any request regarding your personal information may be sent to our privacy officer, reachable at info@monchiot.ca.
3. The portal collects very little information
Unlike many sites, this portal has no contact form and no user account: you browse and contact the breeder of your choice directly, by email or phone, without ever going through our servers. As a result, we collect very little information about you.
| Information | Why | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing data (analytics) | Understand which pages and which regions/breeds are viewed | 14 months |
| Cookie consent choice | Remember your choice (accept/decline) | Until withdrawn, via the "Cookies" button |
| Email (new litter alerts) | Notify you when a litter matching your criteria is published | Until unsubscribed |
We do not collect any sensitive information and never request banking information through this site. This demo page also transmits no real data — see the terms of use.
4. Contact with breeders: outside our control
When you contact a breeder directly (email, phone, visit), that exchange happens between you and the breeder — Mon Chiot is not part of it and keeps no record of it. Any information you share with the breeder at that point is governed by that breeder's own privacy practices, not by this policy.
5. Cookies and analytics technologies
No analytics cookie is set before your explicit consent. The banner shown on your first visit lets you accept or decline, and declining is exactly as easy as accepting. You can change your choice at any time using the "🍪 Cookies" button at the bottom of every page.
Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function — remembering your consent choice, for example — are set without consent, as permitted by law.
6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties. It is only shared with providers necessary to operate the site (hosting, analytics), and only to the extent required.
7. Hosting and location of processing
This site is hosted on a server located in Canada. Should a provider need to process your information outside Québec, we would first complete the privacy factor assessment required by Law 25.
8. Your rights
- Access — obtain a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting a request already in progress.
- Deletion — request deletion of information whose purpose has been fulfilled.
- Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
- Complaint — file a complaint with Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information if our response does not satisfy you.
We respond to any request within a maximum of 30 days.
9. Security
The site is served entirely over HTTPS. In the event of a privacy incident presenting a risk of serious harm, we would notify affected individuals as well as the Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.
10. Changes
Any change to this policy will be published on this page, with a revised update date.
